hey, i'm morgan 💃🏼

I create paintings for women who are DONE diluting themselves to make other people comfortable.

artist's statement

I paint like someone who got her spark back, BECAUSE I DID.

For over 20 years, I traded my sparkle for subtlety, confidence for second guessing, statement earrings for pearl studs, audacious dreams for “good enough,” and my biggest hopes for choices that felt safe but empty.

Somewhere along the way, I learned how to blend in and build a life that looked "perfect" on the outside but left me feeling like a stranger to myself.

Painting became my way home. Every canvas is layered with rebellion and restoration: a return to the girl who loved drama, flair, and vibrancy, and who never thought to ask for permission to be herself.

My art is a mirror for anyone who’s ever felt like they disappeared inside their own life.

My art isn't here just to decorate a wall; it’s here to stir something inside you. These paintings are here to remind you to never settle for a watered down version of yourself, so you can start living as the fabulous icon you were created to be.

For we are God's masterpiece.

- Ephesians 2:10

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Morgan Tanner is a mixed-media artist based in Baton Rouge. Working primarily in painting and mixed media, she is known for bold color, expressive mark-making, and feminine iconography that asserts presence and agency through visual intensity. Her work operates within symbolic maximalism, framing self-expression not as decoration, but as an act of authority.

Tanner’s practice explores identity as something reclaimed rather than performed. Through gesture, repetition, and graphic motifs, her paintings confront restraint and expectation, emphasizing expression as both process and assertion. Femininity functions as a central visual language used to challenge assumptions around visibility, power, and confidence.

With over twenty years of studio experience, Tanner studied at the Milan Art Institute and has developed a practice that spans studio work, large-scale murals, and public art. Her work has been exhibited nationally in solo and group exhibitions and is held in private collections worldwide.

Beyond the studio, Tanner has completed more than 3,500 square feet of murals and public-facing commissions, contributing to civic, commercial, and healthcare environments. She was named a semi-finalist for Best Artist of Baton Rouge in 2024 by 225 Magazine.
